Biography:

Kevin began studying martial arts at age 14 under Sensei Bobby Hernandez in Tulare, California which resulted in a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate at age 17.  He then studied Shaolin Kung Fu under Dai Shifu Kent Davis in Visalia, California and received a black sash in 1984 at age 23.  After moving to Portland, Oregon Kevin trained and was awarded a black belt in Tae Kwon Do from Peter Birchum in early 1997.  Kevin then met Grandmaster Al Dacascos and began training in Wun Hop Kuen Do in 1998.  With Sifu Al’s approval, Kevin continued to train in other martial arts that complemented WHKD.  These included:  becoming a Brown Belt in Eskrima under Grandmaster Ciriaco "Cacoy" Cañete in 2001; obtaining a Phase One instructorship in Jeet Kune do under Paul Vunak in 2003; training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from 1999 – 2002 under Greg Piper (deceased) at the Straight Blast Gym and Team Quest; and boxing at the Grand Avenue Gym under Greg Piper from 2001 - 2003. 

In October, 2006 Kevin was awarded his black sash in Wun Hop Kuen Do by Grandmaster Al Dacascos in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Kevin periodically provides training to several law enforcement agencies, including the Multnomah County Sheriff Department.  He currently trains 14 active students in the martial arts, and has another 10 physical conditioning training clients.
