Biography:

I began studying martial arts at the age of 9 at Tracys Kenpo Karate Studio under  instructor Chris Trujillo.  I achieved a brown belt in that style and attended many tournaments.  While studying with Tracys, I also had the opportunity to participate in seminars by Joe Lewis, and Bill Wallace. SiGung Al Dacascos purchased the Lakewood, Colorado studio in the early 1970’s and I began my training in Kajukenbo-Wun Hop Kuen Do.   The studio moved to a larger  space on 38th & Tennyson in Denver.  I trained in multiple classes at this location, assisting in teaching children’s classes and attending Kata classes under Sifu Malia Bernal (Dacascos).  Advanced classes were conducted by SiGung Al, Dacascos and Sifu Mike Regan.  Students at the school at this time included John Platt, John Fick, Leonard Endrizzi, Mike Radalovich, Karyn Turner, Cindy Peterson, Mark Dacascos, and Ken Lambert.  I placed in over 70 tournaments during this time including Colorado State Championships, Western U.S. Championships, and the Long Beach Internationals.  I Participated in seminars with – Sifu Eric Lee, Sifu Bill Owens, and Sifu Mike Regan.

I am married to Lee Ann (for 26 years), and I have two children Daughter Molly (15), Son Dillon (10).  My wife and I met in college where she obtained a BS in Psychology and I received a BS in Geology.  We have been living in Mountains of Southwestern Colorado for the last twenty years.  I currently work as a Supervisor for Telluride Ski Resort Ski School, and compete annually in the National Telemark Extreme Skiing Championships.  I have been a volunteer Firefighter for 16 years, and a past president of a local non- profit foundation.   I am currently teaching two private students, and looking at an opportunity to offer lessons to local youth groups.
